Snog? Marry? Avoid? ...

It has come to my attention, after watching an English show Snog? Marry? Avoid?, that the way you apply your makeup can alter your chances at making friends, or even finding your true love.

For example... although those 5cm fake lashes and 2cm thick eye liner might satisfy your makeup visions, it repels people because I'm sorry to say, but it may look a bit 'crazy'!

I'm sure most of you have seen the Hunger Games, and are aware of the strange looks that the people from the Capital decide to wear. From yellow eye lashes to purple skin, these embellishments are considered 'normal' and almost 'required' in the Capital.

But in our modern world, such looks may only be acceptable in night clubs because quite frankly, the 'natural' makeup look is so much more appealing!

Yes, it is OK to splurge on your mascara and eye liner once in a while, or even wear falsies. But you need to consider whether your makeup look is acceptable for the venue you are attending.

For example, if you are still a school student, wearing falsies to school would definitely be a no. no. However, at a night club would be the perfect place.

So the message today, is to try to wear makeup as natural as possible and only go all out if you consider it completely necessary. Because remember, makeup isn't about covering up your face... it's about show-casing that beautiful and unique face that you were born with.

Choosing Your Makeup Look

Everyone aims for that one signature look. A look that defines them. A look that expresses their whole personality. A look which is unique.

But picking that 'look' can be an extremely difficult task!!

Bold red lippie?? Dark eyeliner?? Bright eye shadows?? Or just a simple natural look???

All these fantastic looks suit so many different girls! But which one suits you??

I can't answer the question for you, but go for whatever you're comfortable with. Whether its BOLD or just simple.

Or you could try new looks each day and decide which ones you like best!!

Good luck,

Natio Young Collection Review

Hi to all my makeup fans!!

I am so sorry that I haven't posted in ages!! My computer crashed... but I'm back and ready to get back into this!!

Ok, so recently I purchased the Natio Young Pore Unclogging Facial Wash. I'd been wanting to try it for ages, but I never got around to it. It wasn't until it was suggested to me by the girl from Revlon that I realised how dry my skin had gotten!! Seriously, if your skin is dry, it just ruins your foundation... so I rushed over to Natio and purchased this bargain for a mere $10!

photo credt: cosmeticbarn.com.au
I've had this product for around a week now and I am just loving it! It is so amazing. As soon as I used it, my face felt smooth and my foundation was noticeably more flawless. I can't even express my satisfaction in words, you'll have to try it yourself to see what I mean.

Anyway, this product is from the Natio Young range which is just awesome for gals who are in their teen puberty period. We all know that our skin can get oily, dry, breakout, etc. etc. It all just happens at this age. BUT!! Natio have a solution... so try it out!

Natio also have a pack that is available for $20. Included is the facial wash, toner and moisturiser. You save $10 by purchasing the products in the package!! I didn't end up purchasing this package, but I will definitely be back this weekend to purchases it :)

How to Apply Eyeliner

Recently I have been experimenting with a couple of different brands and types of eyeliners to see which ones I like best. Because it's so hard to choose whether pencil, liquid or even gel are the best ones for you! I mean, seriously all three seem like pretty good choices... but each has their goods and bads and occasions which they best suit. Also, it's hard to decide whether to use an expensive liner or a cheap drugstore one!

choices. choices. choices.

What is the right choice? The answer is simple, it depends who you are, what you like, how much money your willing to spend and where you're planning to wear your eyeliner.

Pencil Eyeliner

There are over 9000 different types of pencil eyeliners out there! Like wooww!!
But my favourite would have to be Rimmel London's Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Liner Pencil

This pencil liner is Amazing! It is so soft, smudgeable and practically lasts all day! It also comes in 9 different shades! The only disadvantage is that you have to sharpen pencil eye liners... but other than that, this eyeliner is perfect for the waterline and even your upper eyelash line; however, I prefer to use liquid or gel liners for that.

So how do you apply pencil eyeliner?

Simple, you prime your eyes, and draw very carefully along your waterline or upper eyelash line. Make sure you're very careful and go slowly if it's your first time. But remember, practice makes perfect and you can always erase it with a makeup wipe!! I use pencil liners if I want a subtle look for everyday definition.

Liquid Eyeliner

If you love a smooth, line which is very easy to apply, then go for the liquid eyeliners! There is a huge, huge range to choose from, and some are so cheap! My favourite, surprisingly is Revlon Colorstay Liquid Eye Pen

Revlon ColorStay™ Liquid Eye Pen
Liquid eyeliners are probably the easiest to apply, and this eyeliner makes it even easier! One quick swipe of the pencil and voila, it's done! This pencil has a felt tip for even more precision and ease. If you have a wobbly hand, then get this because it will feel just like drawing with a felt pen, not some foreign equipment! And $5?? Bargain!!

How to apply it?

You just shake, swipe and enjoy. It's that easy!

Gel Eyeliner

Gel eyeliners are just awesome! Perfect for everyday use or even parties!! My favourite would definitely have to be Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Liner
EyeStudio_290

Wow. It's all I can say about this eyeliner. So dramatic and ever lasting! Purchase it. Purchase it. Purchase it. It is my favourite eye liner I've ever used (I like it more than M.A.C!) The applicator is so easy to use and this eyeliner has lasted me so long that it's not even funny!!

On to the application...

So easy to apply, just dip the brush that it comes with in the pot, wipe it on a tissue and then apply it in a line confidently so that it is smooth! Gorgeous. Now you have your own dramatic look to show off!! For even more of a dramatic look, try the cat flick at the corners of your eyes. This opens your eyes up so much!

Best of luck applying that eyeliner,

How to Apply Mascara

Maybelline Define-A-Lash Volume Waterproof Mascara
I love wearing Mascara because it just opens up my eyes, and makes them appear so much more defined. But I absolutely hate clumpy mascara. I hate it. It looks so unnatural. So, I've developed my own method of making sure I never have to deal with clumpy eyelashes again...

Step 1

Wiggle the wand left to right at the base of your lashes. This makes your eyelashes look so much more thicker and gives the illusion of length!

Step 2

Pull the mascara up and through the lashes, but make sure you wiggle as you go because this separates the lashes!

Step 3

Close one eye and place the mascara wand on top of your lashes at the base and then pull it through to the tips. This ensures that no clumps are left and leaves your eyelashes looking awesome!!

So that's how you apply the mascara, but what about finding the right mascara that works best for you and the purposes that you are going to use it for... There are so many on the market, from lengthening to thickening, long lasting to waterproof. There are also many different brands and prices. I don't really mind which brand of mascara I use because they are all pretty much the same to me! As long as its waterproof, I'll use it!!

And I don't bother wasting all my hard earned money on the expensive mascaras if the drug store ones are just as good. Mind you, the expensive mascaras are said to last longer and not become clumpy. So if you hate clumpy mascara and have a little extra cash to spend, then by all means go for the expensive mascara! Personally, I like to spend more money on products like foundation, where the expensive brands are generally better; however, with mascaras, the cheep brands can be good as well. This is why I only sometimes buy the expensive mascaras!

Good look with applying your mascara girls,

How to Apply Primer

Primer is probably my most prized makeup possession! This is solely because it transforms my whole look, and with the right primer, your makeup can last so much longer and look so much smoother! Now I've been searching for ages for the right primer!! It's so hard to find the right one for you, because every one's different. I didn't want to go all out and buy a really expensive primer at first because what if it wasn't good?? So that's why I settled for the Revlon primer for now. It is A-mazing and you must try it because it's my favourite primer I've ever used, ever!

Revlon PhotoReady Color Correcting Primer

But onto the application....

What's the use of primer if you don't apply it correctly? You only ever need the smallest amount, and it helps if you've exfoliated and moisturised first. This gets rid of the dry skin and creates a smooth, moisturised base. The primer 'primes' your face as its name suggests. It creates a silky smooth base for your foundation and the rest of your makeup!!

It's actually really easy to apply primer with your fingers, I don't really bother using a brush because that means cleaning it... nah, I'm totally kidding, its because the primer is warmed up by your fingers as it's blended into the skin. This is the perfect way for applying it.

The areas that need the primer the most are the cheeks, chin, forehead, nose and eyes. The outer areas of your face don't really need as much primer, but it sure helps to apply it there as well. Blend from the nose outward for the best effect. And always wait for the primer to set before applying foundation!!

Hope this helps you when applying your primer!

MAX Factor False Lash Effect Fushion Mascara

I often don't really mind what brand Mascara I use. Because personally, I believe that they're all pretty much the same...

But.. this mascara is awesome for those girls who like that dramatic look. If your a bold type of gal, or you loves to wear false lashes, then put down those fake lashes and throw away the glue. MAX Factor has found you something even better.. a mascara which makes your lashes fuller, darker and pretty much look like they're false!

And this mascara is so versatile as well, one coat, two coats, three coats, twenty coats... you name it. You pick whether you'd like subtle mascara or a really full look! The brush is also really great because it doesn't make my eyelashes clump (eww I hate clumpy eyelashes)!

So if you're looking for a new mascara, or just feel like changing it up and giving a dramatic look a go, then MAX Factor False Lash Effect Fushion Mascara is the one for you!

Maybelline New York Dream Smooth Mousse

Maybelline New York Dream Smooth Mousse is so cute and easy to carry on the go. It has a sponge hidden in the lid and the foundation in the second compartment! So tidy and hygenic! The sponge that comes with it gives you a medium coverage, which is pretty good. But I really prefer to use my own makeup brushes for a more flawless look!

The foundation also blends into my skin so well, almost like a moisturiser! It lasts all day long and never really looks cakey, unless I apply too much. But other than that, this foundation is pretty good. It's only $7.95 as well!

It's a great drugstore foundation, although I only really use it if I'm travelling or if I want to touch-up on the go!

But give it a try, you never know, it might be your perfect foundation!

                                                 xoxo themakeupqueen

L'Oreal Paris Visible Lift Serum Absolute

This foundation is one of my favourites for a light, everyday foundation. As I've mentioned numerous times in previous posts, I love liquid foundations! I'm always trying new ones because I haven't yet found the completely perfect one for me! I'm only young, so the anti-aging benefits don't really apply to me.. But from reading other reviews on this product, I've found out that it can help to reduce the signs of aging because it smooths out your fine lines!

It has a subtle shimmer and is very lightweight. I use this foundation if I want a nice glow for photos or just because I feel like I want to sparkle! The coverage is very light, in saying that, it can be built up. But! If your acne-prone, probably skip this one. It will accentuate your blemishes (because of its shimmer), rather than hide them! I'd try a more matte foundation of I were you.

This foundation is only $12.50, so it's worth a try if you've got a little extra cash. And if your a little older, then this will benefit you even more to make you appear younger! Bonus! So yeah, give this one a try girls!

Physicians Formula Mineral Illuminating Powder Duo

Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Talc-Free Mineral Illuminating Powder Duo SPF 16, $13.99

Normally I don't particularly like powder foundations, but this foundation is an exception. This foundation is different. Different to all the other mineral foundations. Unique. Unique because it comes with two shades! Forget the days when you had to search and search for the perfect match to your skin tone. The search has ended. Solution: Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Talc-Free Mineral Illuminating Powder Duo SPF 16.

This foundation is so versatile because it can be your foundation throughout summer to winter because of the complete variation you can achieve with its two different shades. It also works simultaneously as a bronzing and highlighter! And for $13.99 your getting a foundation and brush, a bronzing powder and a highlighting powder all in one because of its versatile uses! That's exceptional, if you ask me!

But on to the coverage. Hmm.. well this foundation really isn't for me. It's a great foundation and all, it's just so light coverage, that it doesn't really cover much for me. My cheeks get really red and so I always need something a little more, well, heavier and thicker! That's why I normally use liquid foundation! But in saying that, this powder works well for me after I've used my liquid foundation. I use it as a bronzer and highlighter sometimes.

If you have clear skin, definitely purchase this one, it's a bargain! But for those who have blemishes or redness, maybe this isn't the right one for you, but maybe it is, you never know! Try it out because everyone's different. And it's only $13.99 isn't it!? Anyway, if you don't particularly like it, use it as a bronzer and highlighter like me!!

Lara Bingle Makeup

Lara Bingle's new show: Being Lara Bingle has sparked interest all around the world! A show which gives us an insight into Lara's life and reveals to us that her life isn't just all black and white! The show brings out Lara's bubbly personality and shows her in her best times and her worst!

But on to her makeup... I love Lara's minimal approach to makeup because she always looks so tan, dewy and natural! Her bleach blonde hair and blue eyes gives her a perfect 'beachy' look, especially when her hair is wavy! Overall, her makeup is always looking good! And have you ever noticed that she wears makeup to bed on her show?? haha

So what's in her beauty bag?

1. NARS bronzing powder in Laguna $55

This bronzing powder is extremely popular among celebrities and is perfect for contouring! If you want her glow, definitely purchase this product! I love NARS bronzing powder as well, take my word for it, or even Lara's, because it's A-mazing!!

2. Dove Essential Nutrients Tinted Moisturiser in Honey $10

Lara loves using this tinted moisturiser because its a three in one: a moisturiser, light foundation and SPF15 protection! I definitely recommend purchasing this tinted moisturiser as well because it's only $10! I don't have it yet, but it's on my list!!

3. Becca Luminous Skin Colour $54.40

This moisturiser is perfect for people who have problem skin because it contains anti-oxidant vitamins, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic ingredients — all saviours for breakout or problematic areas. This must be one of the reason's why Lara's skin is absolutely perfect!

Lara Bingle has an amazing makeup look which is so natural, and now that you know how she achieves such a gorgeous glow, you can try it out yourself! Good luck!

Napoleon DéVine Goddess Lipstick

Napoleon's DéVine Goddess Lipstick is just 'Devine' as its title suggests... Look at the bright coral colour, I mean, who wouldn't love this!! If you are a bright and bold gal, then this is just the perfect lipstick for you :) And for $35? Bargain in my opinion!

Calypso
To apply this lipstick, I use my finger. I rub a touch of the lipstick onto my finger and then smudge it into my lips! This stains my lips slightly with a lovely coral colour. If I want something a little more bright and bold, I apply the actual stick onto my lips! Just beautiful and perfect for the spring season which is coming up guys, get excited!

I also love this product because it lasts so long. I know, $35 is a lot of money for one sole lipstick. But! Because this lipstick is so pigmented and bold, only a tiny amount is used each time; therefore, making it last an enormously long time!

Purchase Napoleon DéVine Goddess Lipstick as soon as you can, it WILL last forever!

xoxo themakeupqueen

Napoleon Blush Patrol

Blush PatrolI love Napoleon's Blush Patrol because it has an amazing swirled design, creating a beautiful and unique blend of blush colour each time I apply it! If I want a darker blush, I rub my brush into the darker colour more. And if I want a subtle blush, I rub my brush into the lighter colour more! Every combination is different, which is what makes this product so unique!

Napoleon Blush Patrol has lasted me 2 years now and it barely looks like I even used any!! I only need to use a tiny amount on my blush because it's so pigmented!

As for the price...$60? WELL WORTH THE PRICE!! If you think about how long it will take to use the whole pan, you will realise just how much a bargain this product is!

But be warned to use it with a good quality blush brush and to not use too much because then it will look cakey! (Let's face it, NO ONE wants cakey makeup!) I use a Nude by Nature or Sigma Kabuki brush, depending on which ones are in cleaning. Angled brushes also work perfectly for blush as well!

xoxo themakeupqueen

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters

My absolute favourite Revlon product is the Revlon colorburst lip butters! There are a whopping 20 shades available! These lip butters also hydrate your lips and give them a baby soft feel! Now you don't have to worry about your lips drying out from using other brands of lip products which dehydrate your lips!

I love every single shade of these lip butters. Some are more pigmented then others and some are more shiny than others. But overall, each shade has a unique quality and occasion which it would be perfect for!

My favourite of all the shades is Sugar Frosting

I love to use this lip butter every day because it gives my lipes a subtle shine and glow! It is perfect for school or work, if you want a 'naked' look!
I also love Candy Apple

This shade works amazingly for a dramatic, glossy, red lip and I recommend it if you're a red lip kind of gal.

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters are amazing and I recommend them to everyone no matter what age you are, as there is such a diverse range!

M.A.C Fluidline

 Fluidline
I LOVE M.A.C fluidline! I use it when I want a well defined eye. It is ultra smooth and I can easily apply it with one stroke of my brush. Smudge proof. Lasts forever. 6 Shades. What more could you ask for?

M.A.C fluidline is only $32! I know, pretty pricey for an eyeliner... But M.A.C fluidline isn't just any eyeliner ladies, it is one of a kind and lasts so long! Definitely worth its price in my eyes.

The six shades are:

1. Rich Ground-Reddened Coco with frost

2. Dip Down-Deep dark flat brown

3. Blitz and Glitz-Intense black flashed with gold pearl

4. Black Track-Solid flat black

5. Wave Line-Navy Blue with low level gold pearl

6. Macroviolet-Deep smoked violet with red pearl

To apply the M.A.C fluidline, I use my M.A.C 211 Pointed Liner Brush which was $37. I love the shade Blitz and Glitz because it has a pearly tone, rather than a solid black. Definitely try these ones out!

xoxo themakeupqueen

M.A.C eyeshadow palettes

There are two different types of eye shadow x4 palettes available from M.A.C, which are just gorgeous! Each palette comes with four versatile colours, perfect for that dynamic smokey eye look. And for $75, these palettes are reasonably priced, considering the high pigmentation of the shades, making them last longer!

SHOP AND DROP: EYESHADOW x4
This violet inspired palette is perfect for brown eyes, as violet compliments the gold and just you know, makes your eyes 'pop'! I have brown eyes and I personally use purple tinted eye shadows as a base colour and then add a neutral colour over the top. But I'm not such a 'bold' gal, so if you are, GO ALL OUT and use the really bold colours!! It's all about experimenting.

This palette comes in 4 contrasting shades of violet: Sugar Stack, Hypnotizing, Power Boosted and Shop and Drop

My favourite shade to use is Hypnotising because it works so well for an eye shadow base and it is only a subtle shade of violet-grey! If I'm doing a smokey eye look just with this palette, I use Hypnotizing as a base, Power Boosted in the crease and Shop and Drop along the lash line. I only use the slightest amount of Hypnotizing and Power Boosted because they're so pigmented! I then use Sugar Stack to highlight the inner corners of my eyes slightly, or even on my brow bone to give definition!

COLOUR ADDED: EYESHADOW x4
This palette is for those who are lovers of yellows, blues or purples! You can even mix the shades together to create a perfect combination! I love this palette because it's just so versatile because I can create so many different shades of browns, blues, teals, violets, you name it! And the cream shade works perfectly as a highlighter!!

The shades in this palette are completely different from each other: Laudry Daze, Colour Added, Pre-Packaged and Self-Serve.

My favourite shade in this eyeshadow palette is Laudry Daze because it is a perfect highlighting colour, even though it is pretty bright! I just use a touch of it in the corners of my eyes and it brightens my whole eyes up! Try it, it works beautifully! If I want a base colour from this palette, I mix a tiny bit of Self-Serve to the Colour Added to create a lovely golden brown. If your a teal sorta gal, then mix the yellow with the blue to create your perfect shade!

I love these eyeshadow x4 palettes and recommend that if you have a little extra cash, BUY THEM!

But what's in that beauty bag of hers?? ...

M.A.C Makeup Brushes

M.A.C Makeup Brushes: probably the most well used brand of makeup brushes, but is it the best?

Well, yes and no. I mean, I love M.A.C and have quite a few of their brushes, but I also love other brands which are cheaper and similar quality, such as Sigma.

So what are the Pros and Cons of these brushes:

PROS:

There is an enormous range of brushes, and I mean enormous! You think of a brush, it will be there. This is a huge advantage on their part, as many people will buy all their brushes from M.A.C because all the brush types they want come in so many sizes and types in one shop! The brushes are extremely high quality and I recommend trying them out!

CONS:

These brushes are fairly expensive! And if your only a teenager with not much money, because you either don't have a job or have a low paying part time job, the idea of buying one foundation brush for $88 can seem quite overwhelming! So, I recommend maybe trying out the cheaper M.A.C brushes or using cheaper brands such as Sigma, until you can comfortably afford to spend that well earned money on M.A.C!
